Big Bertha Irons vs X-22 Irons?
I'm shopping for clubs right now and I'm down to two. I'm a high handicap player wanting to get better, obviously. I've determined the need to buy some good clubs to help in this venture. My question is which should I get?
I would like a set that helps me hit the ball consistently, but still has the potential to be good clubs when I get better, and not leave me "plateaued" like some clubs do.
I've tried reading reviews on both clubs or finding comparisons on the pros and cons of each set, but often they say almost the same exact thing.
The Big Bertha's are much cheaper in cost, does this make the X-22's better?

Cost doesn't matter, so long as the materials used reflects that. Both the BB's and X-22's are cast stainless steel, as opposed to one being made of steel and the other out of zinc (for example), so there isn't any material issues. The cost does reflect their intended audiences, however...
The BB's are more "super-game improvement"... they have very wide soles and toplines to help get the ball up in the air, and their offset will help people with bad-ish swings fight (but not cure) a slice.
The X-22's are in the "game improvement" category, yet are more on the "player's" side. They don't have as much offset as the BBs, their toplines and soles are thinner (more workability than the BBs).
If I were you, I would go with the X-22s, because of the fact you can "grow into them", without them hurting your early experiences... especially if you were to start with musclebacks, for instance.
